Misty Waters Second Artist Announcement -2025
Misty Waters Second Artist Announcement
Howzit Misty fans! It’s been a couple of weeks since we released our first artist announcement. We
sure hope some of those names were tantalizing enough to encourage you to purchase that
weekend ticket or book some lovely luxury accommodation. We would love to introduce the bands
joining in our thrilling, second artist announcement.
Before we go any further, let’s remind you when and where Misty Waters is taking place as that is
quite crucial information. The one and only, Misty Waters Music Festival, known for never swaying
from our deep grounded roots in rock, is taking place 25 – 27 April (yes that is a lovely long
weekend) and our festival grounds are located between two beautiful lakes at Lake Umuzi in
Secunda, Mpumalanga. Now that we got that out of the way, let’s focus on what’s really important –
the talent drawing us all to that stage.
Springbok Nude Girls
Did you know Springbok Nude Girls played their first big gig in 1994? That is insane and we feel so
blessed to have these oaks performing on our stage once more! We are excited to have them bring
their iconic 90’s rock energy back to our stage.
Basson Laubscher & the Violent Free Peace
Basson Laubscher gained early fame as one of the founding members of the popular alternative
Afrikaans band, Zinkplaat in the early 2000s. He is recognised as one of South Africa’s top guitarists,
alongside renowned artists like Dan Patlansky and Albert Frost. We’ve even heard his guitar skills can
be compared to legends such as Jimi Hendrix.
Van Pletzen
Are you ready for this crazy ride? The dynamic duo are coming in hot and ready to spread good vibes
and teach us all the sacred art of being lekker or should we say legeh. Since the release of their
debut single in 2018, VAN PLETZEN have become South Africa’s favourite satirical duo and one of the
most sought after live acts in South Africa headlining several of the top festivals and selling out
national tours. Needless to say, we feel extra special to have them sprinkle their mengels on our
stage this year.
Akkedis
Akkedis is a Cape Town based rock band. The story of Akkedis starts early in the Nineties, when
twins Arthur and Rudi Dennis did their military duty in Youngsfield, South Africa. Although they
played guitar and drums at an early age, they started working together on original material at this
military air force base. Akkedis released three cd`s so far, “Husse met lang ore”, “Voortvlugtend” and
“Vir volk en vaderland”. The band now consists of members Arthur Dennis on guitar and vocals, Rudi
Dennis on drums and vocals, and A.J.Graham on bass guitar.
Radio Kalahari Orkes
RKO’s music extends from a deeply rooted place, taking on Ghoema, Latin and Africana music,
including anything else found along the gravel road. However, the lyrics are firm on the present.
With acoustic equipment almost as old as their motto, their sound includes violin, guitars,
harmonica, bass, kazoo and an old penny whistle.
Black Heidi
We get all warm and fuzzy thinking of Black Heidi, writing about Black Heidi and thinking about Black
Heidi performing on our stage again. They describe themselves best by saying their sound is
indescribable, because it really is. You can’t pin point it, which makes it even better. All we know is,
this 5-piece magical creation of a band will lighten every fibre in your body and make you forget
about all your worries for a weekend.
Ryan Jones
Ryan Jones is a folk–Americana singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, with sound resembling
shades of soft rock, blues, country and indie. He strives to spread positivity and light wherever he
goes. We can’t wait to experience the positivity Ryan brings to Misty Waters and to our stage for his
first ever Misty performance.
3’s and 7’s
3’s and 7’s is an indie-alternative rock band hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa – bringing loud,
raw guitar-driven music back to the forefront. Their song writing focuses on crafting energetic,
catchy and melodic old school-influenced rock songs that are meant to be turned up to 11!
The band has worked consistently hard for over six years, embarking on their debut international
tour to Germany in September 2024. We’re excited to welcome 3’s and 7’s to our stage for the very
first time!
Kenny Hughes
Kenny Hughes, who has embarked on a musical journey spanning seven years to date, embodies the
essence of South African blues rock. As a travelling singer-songwriter, Kenny has enthralled
audiences at prestigious venues, festivals, and events. Kenny performs live with The Kenny Hughes
Trio, which includes Jayson ‘Diksnaar’ Pieterse on Bass and Daan Prins on Percussion.
We don’t think you need any convincing to buy your ticket or book accommodation at this point –
these bands should be motivation enough. However, if they’re not completely your vibe, we have a
last artist announcement heading your way in a couple weeks. In the meantime, tickets are only
R690 for another few days. Don’t miss out on this price for 3 days of music, other entertainment, fun
merch vendors, tasty food and refreshing drinks!
